Island 90067
made in West Germany for US market
color scheme: purple background with lime green reticle and silver paint lettering
genre: rock
LP originally released in 1983

MADE IN | | WEST GERMANY, no manufacturer on disc.
It is hard to read this line against the mirror band.
Matrix number: 7567 90067-2 2893 213 01

MADE IN WEST | | GERMANY BY POLYGRAM
Again, it is hard to read this line against the mirror band.
The most common disc variation, this one has an outer mirror band.
Matrix number: 7567 90067-2 2893 213 01

MADE IN WEST | | GERMANY BY POLYGRAM, no outer mirror band.
Matrix numbers: 7567 90067-2 2893 213 02 #, 7567 90067-2 2893 213 03 #
Known suffixes: (02 #) BA, (03 #) BG
Here, it is easy to read the bottom line.
Later releases of this (03 #) disc variation have MADE IN W. GERMANY BY PDO etched around the center hole.
Known suffixes: BY, CD, CN
These are the only four disc variations (plus one matrix variation) that I am aware of.
Except of course the rare variation with the wrong color combo! See separate listing.

This one is missing the silver paint, thus it is missing the titles and logos.
Thanks to James for the scan.

Front cover of the eight-page booklet
Page seven reads "Manufactured by PolyGram in Hanover, West Germany
Printed in West Germany" in booklets paired with the West Germany / no barcode rear tray insert.
As for booklets paired with the U.S.A. / barcode tray insert, page seven states "Printed in U.S.A."

Rear tray insert "Printed in West Germany" with a blank box where the barcode would normally reside.
Note the bottom line of type says "Printed in West Germany" while two lines up,
it says "Printed in U.S.A." The catalog number, "90067-2" is printed on the reverse side of the insert,
so the former is more likely. All disc variations except the PDO version can be found with this tray insert.

Rear tray insert "Printed in U.S.A." with barcode.
The no-mirror-band disc variations with the 03 # matrix can be found with this tray insert.
Be sure to check the disc first, as it is much more likely that a non-target CD
will be hiding behind this back inlay! Nothing is printed on the reverse.

Notes: While this target CD is not terribly hard to find, there is much competition for it on the auction sites.
There also exists a very scarce target version of this title with a different color scheme.
See separate listing.

Jewel case info: (with BY POLYGRAM, with mirror band) smooth-top frosted, nothing embossed on the back,
"12" is embossed on one tab and "44" is embossed on the back portion, inside bottom center.
Eight-prong disc tray embossed "Patents pending 16"

(POLYGRAM and PDO, no mirror band) smooth frosted two long stopper bars, with "Patent pending D-1" embossed on the back.
"D-2" is embossed on one tab. Eight-prong disc tray embossed "Patents pending 16"

(POLYGRAM and PDO, no mirror band) Eight-prong disc tray embossed "Patents pending 5.1"

(POLYGRAM and PDO, no mirror band) heavy ridged-top six-tab, two-dimple, with "S6A" embossed on one tab and
"S5A" is embossed on the back portion, inside bottom center. Eight-prong disc tray embossed "Patents pending 15"

(POLYGRAM, no mirror band) heavy ridged six-tab two-dimple case with "73" embossed on one tab and on the back portion,
inside bottom center. Eight-prong disc tray embossed "Patents pending 23"

OTHER INTERESTING EARLY CD PRESSINGS OF THIS TITLE:

"MADE IN JAPAN" at 6 o'clock (by JVC).
Matrix number: 90067 2 N1E12, dates most likely to late 1984 or very early 1985.
Other matrix numbers exist.
This was probably issued while the target-style discs were still in circulation.

"MANUFACTURED BY VICTOR COMPANY OF JAPAN, LTD. MADE IN JAPAN" at 6 o'clock.
Matrix number: 90067 2 S2E16, dates most likely to 1985.
I also have 90067-2-V4E11 (most likely 1987) and other matrix numbers exist.
Up through 1987, PolyGram and JVC manufactured the vast bulk of this titles' discs
for the North American market.

Rear tray insert "Printed in Japan" with barcode.
Two lines up from that, it states, "Printed in U.S.A."
but since "90067-2" is printed on the reverse, I'm guessing the former is true.
The "MADE IN JAPAN" discs and early copies of the disc with the expanded line
were issued with this tray card. The front cover of the booklet is the same as
above. Page seven states "Manufactured by JVC, Japan. Printed in Japan"
Later copies were issued with the same USA paper inserts as found with the later
target issues and early US pressings, as shown above.

A2-90067, issued by the Columbia House record club. "MADE IN WEST GERMANY" at 6 o'clock.
"MADE IN W. GERMANY BY PDO" is etched around the center hole.
Matrix number: 7567 90067-2 2893 213 03 # (same as the later target discs)
Known suffixes: CU, CV
Meanwhile, Columbia House offered this disc to its mail order customers, about 1987.
To the best of my knowledge, a similar disc was not available at retail.

Rear tray insert "Made in U.S.A." / "Printed in U.S.A." with barcode.
Several lines up, it states, "Manufactured by Columbia House under license."
The booklet states "Made in U.S.A." on page seven, and sports the A2-90067 catalog number.

Island 610 533-222 / CID 112, released in Europe and the U.K. There is no manufacturing statement on the disc face.
Matrix info: SONOPRESS 610 533 A.
Other known matrix numbers: SONOPRESS 610 533 B.
Almost certainly, a mid-1980's West German pressing.

Front cover of the skimpy four-page booklet.
No manufacturing info is offered.
Note that the lettering on this early cover is pink, not orange.
Later European booklets have orange lettering.

Rear tray insert "Printed in Western Germany by TOPAC" with barcode.
Nothing is printed on the reverse.
