color scheme: silver stock background with either red or pink reticle, and black lettering
genre: rock
LP originally released in 1983

"Manufactured in Germany by | | Record Service GmbH, Alsdorf"
This version has a solid semi-circular "bar" inline with the matrix number in the mirror band.
Not visible in this scan, my copy has a large number "25" embossed in the plastic center.
I don't know if that means anything. At least five other numbers are also known.
Of the four known major variations of this disc, this one was manufactured first,
probably shortly after the West Germany target version was discontinued.
The reticle is red, and the catalog number on the disc is 923976-2.
The matrix number is 923 976-2 SRC-01

Made in Germany (no manufacturer mentioned, but it is Record Service)
Note that the number on the disc has now changed to 7599-23976-2.
The target design is still red on this variation.
The mirror band is identical to the first version.
This example does not have a number embossed in the plastic center.
But there is a stylized "W" logo. I also have a nearly identical copy with no "W"
which has a large "29" embossed in the plastic center.
Again, I have no idea if that means anything.
Other logo/no logo / large number/small number combinations exist.

"Made in Germany", no manufacturer mentioned, but it is made by Warner Music Manufacturing.
The semi-circular bar in the mirror band is now broken up into rectangular shapes.
This version also has IFPI numbers, meaning it was manufactured after 1995 (or so).
I have two similar, but distinct variations of this version.
One has a red reticle (not pictured) with the number "1" embossed in the plastic center.
On the opposite side of the center hole, the Warner Bros. "W" is embossed.
The IFPI number embossed in the center is "0601."
The other variation has a pink reticle (pictured above) with only "IFPI 05N0" embossed
in the plastic center. Matrix number: 759923976-2 WMME IFPI L012
I don't know which came first.
Many other minor variations involving red vs. pink reticles, "W" logo or lack thereof, IFPI codes, and small/large/no embossed numbers exist.
Warning! Attempting to collect all these minor variations may affect your sanity.

Front cover of the four-page booklet.
No manufacturing info is offered.

Rear tray insert, says, "Manufactured in Germany by Record Service GmbH, Alsdorf"
Note the difference in the barcodes between this and the below back insert
The top disc variation can be found with this back insert.
There is another variation of this tray card (not pictured) that replaces "WE 835" with "(WE 851)"

This rear tray insert also says, "Manufactured in Germany by Record Service GmbH, Alsdorf"
The 7599-23976 disc variations can be found with this tray insert.
Nothing is printed on the reverse.

Notes: This target CD is not very hard to find in Europe. In fact it should still be in print.
Although I found one copy in the used bins in Los Angeles,
it was never officially distributed in the USA, to the best of my knowledge.
